Haier LED TV Products have been awarded the EU Accessibility Act Certificate by DEKRA— the first certificate of its kind in the TV industry

Jul 14, 2025
In Europe, “accessibility” is no longer just a reflection of social responsibility—it is becoming a product design requirement. According to the EU Accessibility Act (EU) 2019/882, starting from June 28, 2025, ICT products and services entering the EU market are expected to meet a range of accessibility requirements to ensure equal, safe, and barrier-free access for all users, including the elderly and people with visual or hearing impairments.
As a forward-looking regulation, the EU Accessibility Act turns the human-centered design concept into practical requirements, helping companies build more accessible and sustainable products for the market.
On June 18, 2025, Haier TV successfully passed DEKRA's verification and was awarded the first EU Accessibility Act Certificate in the TV industry by DEKRA. The certificate awarding ceremony was held on July 10, 2025, with the presence of Mr. Junsheng Jia, Global Quality Director of Haier TV; Mr. Wenquan Yang, Global Certification Manager of Haier TV; Mr. Derek Feng, VP of Automotive & High-tech & Industrial Testing, DEKRA China; and Ms. Cherry Tan, Hi-Tech Sales Director, DEKRA Suzhou.
The certificate confirms that Haier’s LED TV products comply with the EAA's accessibility requirements for audiovisual products in key areas such as visual display, subtitles, audio output, menu navigation, and remote control usability. This means users with hearing impairments can “see” sound through captions, and those with visual impairments can “hear” what’s on screen. Haier LED TVs are not just home appliances — they’re designed to be accessible, enabling more people to enjoy content equally.
From voice commands and subtitles to simple, user-friendly menus, Haier TV focuses on making its products easier for everyone to use. This certificate highlights Haier’s ongoing commitment to building accessible and inclusive technology.
As the independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization, DEKRA conducted the verification based on EAA Directive 2019/882/EU, EN 301 549 V3.2.1, and Draft EN 301 549 V4.1.1c (2025-05) V.0.0.15, enabling companies to identify compliance paths and validate design implementations, ensuring that accessibility requirements are translated from regulation into reality.
True smart living means no one is left behind. At DEKRA, we believe that the value of technology lies not only in performance but also in its ability to open the world to everyone. As global regulatory frameworks strengthen accessibility standards, DEKRA will continue working closely with partners in enhancing accessibility and contributing to sustainable, people-centered innovation.
