Dr. Kilian Aviles Appointed Chairman of TIC Council China Regional Steering Committee
Dr. Kilian Aviles, currently serving as the Senior Vice President of DEKRA APAC and Managing Director of Mainland China and Hong Kong, was appointed as the Chairman of TIC Council China Regional Steering Committee.
The TIC Council, as a global independent industry organization for third-party testing, inspection, and certification bodies, actively promotes best practices and the highest standards in safety, quality, health, ethics, and sustainable development. Since the establishment of the TIC Council's China Regional Steering Committee in December 2021, the organization has been actively preparing to advance work in five key areas: product testing and certification, digitization and smart manufacturing, commodities, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and government advocacy, in line with the characteristics of China's economic development and industry needs.
Dr. Kilian Aviles was previously elected as the Chairman of the Product Testing and Certification Working Group during its inaugural meeting in July 2022, leading the group to formulate and implement strategic plans and actions for product testing and certification.
In his new role as the Chairman of the TIC Council China Regional Steering Committee, Dr. Kilian Aviles stated, "The testing, inspection, and certification industry plays a vital role in promoting economic development and advancing global quality development and cooperation. I look forward to working together with all member organizations of the TIC Council China Regional Steering Committee to strengthen international and local collaboration, focusing on key areas such as sustainable development, digitization, international trade, and collectively promoting industry growth. Ultimately, we aim to provide high-quality inspection and certification services to support the development of Chinese enterprises."
Dr. Kilian Aviles earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering (Chemistry) from Universitat Ramon Llull in Spain, conducted postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, and obtained an Executive MBA from IESE Business School, one of the world's top business schools.
He began his career in the testing, inspection, and certification industry in 2008 and has held various positions in multiple multinational companies across different countries. He joined DEKRA Group in January 2015 and has been responsible for various business investments and operational management in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
