A Further Step in Functional Safety! DEKRA certified Black Sesame Technologies ISO 26262:2018 Functional Safety Management System – FSMS up to ASIL D

Recently, Black Sesame Technologies has been awarded ISO 26262:2018 ASIL D Functional Safety Process Certificate by DEKRA. This marks that Black Sesame Technologies, based on its continuous exploration in safety and commitment to excellence, has established the development and management process of automotive-grade chips in line with ASIL D, the highest level of automotive functional safety. With the certificate, the company will be able to empower the innovation and safety improvement in electric and intelligent automobile technologies in an in-depth way.
Representatives of Black Sesame Technologies, including Zeng Daibing, Senior Vice President of SOC (System on Chip, hereinafter referred to as SOC), You Changhai, Vice President of SOC System Software, Wang Ding, Director of SOC Infrastructure System R&D, Fan Hongliang, Project Manager of Functional Safety, Dr. Kilian Aviles, Senior Vice President of DEKRA APAC and Managing Director of DEKRA China, and Li Mingxun, General Manager of Functional Safety of DEKRA China attended and witnessed the awarding ceremony.
ISO 26262 is an international authoritative standard for automotive functional safety and one of the entry thresholds for global electronic component suppliers to enter the automotive industry. The standard covers functional safety requirements throughout the product lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, configuration, etc. ASIL (Automotive Safety Integration Level) is a 4-level (Level A/B/C/D) classification system based on ISO 26262. The higher the level, the more stringent the development process.
In the current software development of the new RTOS kernel of the company Black Sesame Technologies, the certified process is being applied for the first time. The project RTOS focuses mainly on ensuring the functional safety of the software development and includes several development steps, taking into account the management of functional safety and the required development processes. During the development-accompanying implementation of the Functional Safety Management System - FSMS with the corresponding processes, Black Sesame Technologies worked intensively with DEKRA for almost a year. Through the process system gap analysis, combined with the product development process of BST, a total of nearly 100 documents such as operation guidelines, document templates, review and audit checklists were created. By combining with process system that meets the requirements of ISO 26262, the risks identified in the development of products can be controlled effectively and the demands for functional safety can be well managed to ensure the safety and reliability of products.
