DEKRA nominated for the German government’s CSR Prize

Recognition for DEKRA’s Climate Impact Program

Mar 27, 2025

DEKRA has been nominated for the German government’s CSR Prize 2025. The global inspection and certification organization impressed with its Climate Impact Program in the “Effective Protection of Climate and Biodiversity” category, prevailing against strong competition from all over Germany. The nomination recognizes DEKRA’s pioneering commitment to environmental and social responsibility, as well as its innovative and collaborative approach to climate management.

  • Effective Protection of Climate and Biodiversity ” category
  • Focus on internal decarbonization and external climate projects
  • Prize for environmental and social sustainability that is exemplary in terms of effectiveness, ambition, innovation, and scalability
The expert organization has been nominated for the DEKRA Climate Impact Program , which was launched in 2025 as an innovative approach to impact-based climate management. The Program combines systematic internal decarbonization with support for external climate projects. Decarbonization at DEKRA is aligned with the 1.5°C target pathway, backed by the application of an internal carbon pricing mechanism.
In parallel, the company is supporting external projects, such as solar-powered drinking water supply or wetland restoration, which make a measurable contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in respect of climate change mitigation and adaptation. The scale of the support provided to projects in partnership with globally recognized organizations is aligned with DEKRA’s residual greenhouse gas emissions.
In an increasingly disruptive global environment, in which the significance of the global climate crisis is being questioned once again, DEKRA emphasizes the strategic importance of a joint fight against climate change. At the beginning of the year, for example, DEKRA joined the "Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders" at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
In the year of its 100th anniversary, DEKRA emphasizes the importance of impact-oriented and partnership-based climate responsibility management and underlines its commitment to the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement. With the DEKRA Climate Impact program and its partnerships, an alternative climate management model will be introduced in time for the company's 100th anniversary in the middle of the year, which represents a further development of the previous climate goal of balance sheet carbon neutrality.
“Our DEKRA Climate Impact Program is not about offsetting emissions on the balance sheet, but about making a holistic contribution to climate change mitigation and adaptation,” emphasizes Wolfgang Linsenmaier, CFO and responsible for sustainability at DEKRA. “With this approach, DEKRA is going beyond conventional climate neutrality claims to deliver the impetus for a new standard in climate responsibility management.”
CSR Prize with added value
The German government’s CSR Prize is being awarded for the fifth time in 2025. It honors corporate projects that represent a particular commitment by companies to ensuring environmental and social sustainability across their supply chains. The CSR Prize is one element of the German government’s CSR Strategy , which focuses on and promotes corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The prize ceremony will take place in Berlin on April 3, 2025. Some 150 companies submitted very varied actions and projects in the five CSR Prize categories: Good Business Practices; Effective Training and Development; Effective Protection of Climate and Biodiversity; Digital Instruments for Transparent Supply Chains; and Constructive Stakeholder Participation. For each category, the high-caliber jury nominated three projects that were assessed on the basis of detailed background analysis of the companies and relevant stakeholders.
